1876, Kuhaylah Da’janiyah mare. According to Al Khamsa, Dajania was bred by Muhammad Pasha, a Turkmen chief, who had stolen her dam from the Saba’ah. She was imported in 1878 to England by Wilfrid and Lady Anne Blunt. By a Kuhaylan Nuwaq out of a Kuhaylah Da’janiyah of the Saba’ah. Dajania was purchased at Aleppo on December 25, 1877, through Shaykh Sayyid Ahmad of the Hannadi, a member of which tribe had stolen the mare from Muhammad Pasha.

“Foaled in 1876, a Kehileh Dajanieh, 14 hands 3 inches, just over 7 inches below the knee, girth 70 inches.
A bright full bay mare with black points 3 white feet (both hind and off fore, mutlak es shemal) star and snip. Good head, rather short neck, fire ears, short back wonderfully strong, fair shoulder perfect legs, fine action and carriage of tail.
Purchased at Aleppo, Dec. 25th 1877, through Seyd Ahmed, Sheykh of the Hannadi now settled at Haggla, of the person who stole her (we not knowing her to be stolen till some time afterwards). Dajania’s (at first named Jasmine and exhibited under that name in the 1880’s) dam was a Kehileh Dajanieh stolen from the Sebaa Anazeh by Mohammed Pasha, a Turkoman chief who bred Dajania, her sire a Kehilan Nowag. Dajania was in her turn stolen from her owner and brought to Aleppo where she was sold to Mr Blunt. We were not aware that she has been stolen for our conversation with Seyd Ahmed who had brought the filly to the Consulate, for sale, on the morning of Christmas Day, was carried on through Mr Skene. I believe that Mr Skene was informed of the fact by Seyd Ahmed, but we only learned it in 1881. No doubt it was owing to this that we got her cheap. Extract from journal of Dec. 25, 1877, ‘the filly is lovely. Seyd Ahmed asked T Pounds 50, Mr Skene said “You will get her for 40 Pounds.” We all went into the drawing room and sat round the mangal (brazier) for it was very cold. Mr S. began by offering 30 and ended by 35. Seyd Ahmed offered her for 40. Mr S. stuck to 35. He said when the Sheykh got up and left the room, “You will have her for 35”, and so we did.’ Imported in 1878. Dajania was sold at the 3rd biennial sale in 1886 to the Turkish ambassador, H.E. Rustem Pasha.”†
