1840, Dahmah Shahwaniyah of al-Najib mare. According to Al Khamsa, Hajlah was bred by Mubarak al-Khalifah of Bahrain with Shafi Ibn Shab’an of the Qahtan. Given by Mubarak al-Khalifah to Mushwat Ibn Shab’an Ibn ‘Uwaydh of al-‘Assim of the Qahtan. Imported prior to 1853 to Egypt for Abbas Pasha. There is further information forthcoming (post 2020) based on research done by Edouard Al-Dahdah concerning the strain and tribal origin of Hajlah.
